Michael Leibenluft is an Obie Award-winning theater and film director and educator based in Brooklyn, NY. Michael is a Teaching Artist for Theater Development Fund (TDF) and a Theater Consultant for the Children’s Chinese Book Garden. He has also worked as a Teaching Artist for Ping Chong + Company and Marquis Studio, as well as taught workshops in China, Korea, Japan, Malaysia and throughout the US. Michael is currently the Program Director for CalArts China.

Michael's directing credits include I’ll Never Love Again (a chamber piece) by Clare Barron at the Bushwick Starr (Obie Award for Direction, 2016; NYT and Time Out Critics’ Picks), June is the First Fall by Yilong Liu with Yangtze Rep, Salesman之死 (upcoming at Target Margin Theater), How I Learned to Drive by Paula Vogel with Drum Tower West Theater in Beijing, Lost Tribe by Agnes Borinsky, The Subtle Body by Megan Campisi at 59E59 Theaters and the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center, and other projects with NYTW, LMCC, The Civilians, The Flea Theater, EST, and NYU/Tisch.
